For over two decades, Samuel Lane has dedicated his life to the art of songwriting, seamlessly blending faith with a relentless pursuit of musical excellence. Known for his uncompromising honesty, Samuel’s songs have an ache and rare authenticity that profoundly resonates with the listener, immersing you in a story that propels you towards the Creator. His songwriting, paired with a heart to lead people into intimate worship, fuse perfectly to create beautiful, artistic, authentic worship experiences.

With an impressive catalog of over 40 songs written and recorded through Vineyard Worship, his impact on the worship music landscape is undeniable. Vineyard Worship featured Samuel on their first ever solo album in the UK ‘The Fire’, released in 2013. Recorded at Cat Beach Studios in LA, this remarkable release possesses a unique power, that compels you to just stop what you are doing, listen, and be transported into a place of worship. Christianity Magazine said "Incredible, there hasn't been an album that has captured my attention in such a way for a long time".

‘The Difference’, considered for a Grammy in 2019, again broke existing expectations, challenging the boundaries of conventional church music. Each song uniquely crafted with the same intensity and vulnerability we've come to expect from a Samuel Lane record. But this record brings something new. “Maybe it’s the stripped-down urgency of Lane’s voice, the album’s eclectic sonic treasure-chest or simply the B3 humming throughout, but whatever it is, it’s enough to make you rethink today’s neat-and-tidy Christian music categories” Pandora Blog, Curators’ Choice.

‘The Difference’ is a collision of passion, hope and unfiltered honesty. Lane’s voice captures you with a unique transparent quality that just won’t let you go. ’The Difference' is a testament to Samuel’s commitment to his craft and calling – creating songs that guide us ever closer to an authentic and profound connection with the Almighty.

In 2022, Lane left the church his family founded in 1988, and founded design house Studio Remain, spending his time designing websites to pay the bills. He remains beautifully passionate about the person of Jesus, faithful to the call to write songs that capture the depths, beauty, and heart of God. In 2024 he plans to finish work on his long-awaited 3rd album. Travelling back to LA to record once again.

“I’m about five years late to the Samuel Lane train, but I’m tripping over my ears to get on board. This St. Albans UK worship guy takes you to places you didn’t think modern worship could go. I’m sure that’s why Lane’s debut, 2013’s The Fire, was the first-ever solo project greenlit by Vineyard, a label for churches. On follow-up The Difference, Lane has in spades what many worship leaders only pray for. Maybe it’s the stripped-down urgency of Lane’s voice, the album’s eclectic sonic treasure-chest or simply the B3 humming throughout, but whatever it is, it’s enough to make you rethink today’s neat-and-tidy Christian music categories. It’s what I imagine the Jesus Music of the ’70s — California hippies and street musicians singing about changed lives — would sound like in 2018. In fact, I’m pretty sure Larry Norman and Keith Green have a couple seats reserved in row three.”

The beauty of The Fire is that it is an extremely accessible worship record that can be adapted to almost any setting. Samuel’s honesty in worship and apparent heart to serve God and the church with his music is beautiful. His songwriting ability paired with his heart to lead the Church in the worship of God fuse perfectly to create a beautiful, artistic and useful worship record for the Church.” 4/5

“A Brit recording in California who sang on the amazing beautiful album in the early aughts, Samuel Lane is the Jeremiah of worship music. His songs have an ache that boldly catapults you towards the Savior. "Fiery Love” simmers with drums and his searing voice; it’s an eruption of classic rock and blues set to a prophetic ode. Lane sings that the Holy Spirit is holding up the stars and his own heart. By the end of the album, amid softly strummed ballads, you’ll find Lane has only one goal: to reveal and revel in Gospel-soaked conviction.“

— THE UNDERGROUND SITE

“…The songwriting here is impeccable. Samuel Lane’s voice is just powerful and exceptional, I can’t even begin to explain! The Fire brings a whole new level of originality and fresh sound to Christian music especially as it is from the UK… The Fire is an incredible album coming from the UK recording company and from an amazing artist Samuel Lane. His voice is one of those voices you don’t quickly forget. The album has simplistic acoustic instrumentation, authentic and raw arrangements. It is a particularly artistic album and definitely not your average contemporary christian music. The Fire that will stir the passion for worship in a lot of people and it will also leave them wanting a better relationship with God and a better understanding of God.”

"This debut album by Samuel Lane is incredible. There hasn’t been a worship album that has captured my attention in such a way for a long time. This is due to its skillful production, its passionate heart, and its prayerful longing to journey deeper into God’s presence. Lane’s vocals are reminiscent of artists such as Ben Howard and Ray LaMontagne. One stand-out track is ‘Take Me With You,’ a song that captures an intimate desire to follow God and then swells with the powerful declaration; 'to live is Christ, to die is gain, to know the Father, to see His face’. O My Soul is another beautiful song, full of gorgeous harmonies which draw you into a place of worship. A stunning album; add it to your collection now.” 5/5

— ALL ABOUT WORSHIP

“The fire is spacious, emotional and expressive. As it starts, it’s as if we are praising God on the porch of a log cabin in the depths of the Southern Missouri Ozarks… There are times instruments are allowed to swell and ring out creating a very large tonal landscape in which the lyrics soar, yet there are moments of a single acoustic guitar bringing the listener in close to insert the message right into the heart. I hear and feel Samuel Lane worshipping the Lord.”

— YOUTHWORK MAGAZINE

“From the very first breath (yes, a breath) to the final fade, The Fire is that rare gem and unexpected delight: a masterpiece that has seemingly come from nowhere.” 5/5

— CROSS RHYTHMS

“Once in a while you come upon an album that makes you just stop what you are be doing and simply listen as you are drawn into a place of worship. It’s not just the warm voice, or the top LA production, but the sheer heartfelt, personal, intimate lyrics on display here… You feel you are intruding on a very special time of natural worship… This is an outstanding piece of work, and the start of something very special!” 10/10

— LOUDER THAN THE MUSIC

“You cannot help being drawn into worshipping God…The Fire is one of the most heartfelt albums I have heard in a long time… Samuel Lane is a must for people that like laid back, heartfelt, passionate guitar worship music that sounds effortless yet at the same time really reaches deep into your soul when you listen.” 4.5/5

"Honesty is a great word when it comes to describing Samuel Lane. All the songs in the album capture not only his passion for Jesus but his authenticity as an artist. His lyrics are convicting and the presence of God is written all over this album. The folk elements complement his rugged vocals to offer listeners a fresh, beautiful sound that raises spiritual freedom to another level. The Fire is one of the most uplifting and inspiring worship albums out right now."
